Carved by the relentless push of glaciers in the last ice age, the exposed bedrock of the rugged west coast submerges below both the Pacific currents and the temperate rain forest.

The trails of Point-No-Point wind beneath natural salal and alder arbors, between several separate coves, a bridged islet and up the hill to the teahouse, bluffs and cabins. The western edge of the resort is bounded by Jacobs Creek which flows over a sandstone shelf to the boulder beach. Farther up Jacobs, the creek bed has revealed 25 million year old mammalian fossils from the Oligocene period -- nearly as old as the Sooke postmaster. . . but perhaps a bit faster.

You'll find dramatic differences in micro climates from one side of the point to the other. Tuck in the lee and bake on a steamy beach or bundle up and watch the breakers on the other side. At the eastern-most cove is the Beach House where you can step out of the rain and warm up next to a fire.
